Butternut Squash

Back to Squash Varieties

Description

Butternut squash have a long shape and beige colour. The flesh has a light orange colour with a very creamy, moist texture, and a nutty flavour. It is the most versatile squash, and Tamra Davison's favourite!

Cooking Ideas

To prepare a Butternut squash, cut in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. There are so many ways to cook it from there! We love it sautéed and added to salads, pureed in soup, or baked with apples and cinnamon. A perfect base ingredient for so many recipes! It holds its shape very well when baked, but is also very smooth once it has been blended.

Storage

Squash can be successfully stored for up to 6 months. Store in a cool location and wipe the outside with a bleach water mixture to help it last.
