The well-known African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” conveys the message that it takes many people (the village) to provide for the needs of raising healthy children, and in turn, healthy communities. Sometimes I ponder this proverb as I look around our farm and see the diverse gifts and abilities of the many people (our village) who work here. My conclusion is this: “It takes a village to run our farm business!” We simply could not operate without the collective hard work and abilities of our staff and family.
Each area has its niche, specializing in tasks that all together make up Davison Orchards as we know it today. We are farmers, bakers, soup and jam makers. We are barista’s, ice cream swirlers and apple juice pressers. We have a team of very organized people making sure that all of the logistics are looked after such as having enough employees in the market to assist our customers, enough paper supplies to meet the needs of every department, as well as the numbers crunched, the phones answered and the bills paid. We have marketers who keep our customers informed and up-to-date on the many crops we grow and the amazing gourmet foods we make. And then there is the maintenance….
Everyday things are breaking down and so we have knowledgeable people to keep everything up and running. The grass keeps growing and the flower beds keep sprouting weeds, so we have gardeners, and people to maintain the grounds. We have a team of tractor drivers to host our farm tours and U-pick experiences. The list of jobs and people to fill them goes on and on. We as a family feel so blessed to have this small army working alongside us as we aim to provide food and a safe, wholesome space for our community and beyond. We also know and understand that it is YOU, our faithful customers, that support this family farm-business which makes this all possible!
As our season comes to an end for 2024 we want to sincerely thank each and every staff member for their hard work and dedication to our vision here at Davison Orchards:
